Dear Readers,
It’s been an exciting month so far. “Sudden Awakenings” enjoyed a successful release. It came out of the gate at #3 on the Bestsellers list in Adaptations and Pastiches on Amazon and stayed in the top 10 for the first week. It has sold over 150 copies and received over 300,000 page reads on Kindle Unlimited! If you are one of these readers who bought or downloaded the book, thank you so much for your support!
What’s next?
I’m already about 20% into writing my next P&P variation, which will explore what happens when Darcy is attacked by highwaymen on his way to Ramsgate, loses his memory, and is rescued by Elizabeth. I think it will be an exciting story! I’m aiming to have it written and published by February, which may be ambitious, but we shall see.
I have a few other projects in the pipeline as well, including plans for a brand-new original romcom series, and I’m in talks with somebody big about another secret project (yes, I’m going to keep you all in suspense for now!)
I was in conversation with somebody recently about my books and how I got started as an author, and it came up that I had a whole other career before this one as a professional harpist. Way back in the “BC” years (before children) as I like to call them, I performed for weddings and events, had a harp teaching studio, and even produced a CD. My career as a recording artist may have lasted all of, like, five minutes, but the recordings are preserved, and to my surprise, they are still on Spotify The album is called “Beautiful Impressions” under my maiden name, Amanda Woosley. I don’t even know if I’m still set up to receive royalties, but have a listen anyways. Who knows, maybe I’ll get a royalty check in the mail one day? Wouldn’t that be a lark!
Speaking of audio, my friend and I were discussing how many people still listen to CDs or even own a CD player still. What about you?
Happy reading,
Amanda Kai
Sudden Awakenings is earning high praise from readers. Here’s what they are saying about it on Amazon and Goodreads.
“A fun and engaging take on Pride and Prejudice. I have enjoyed Amanda Kai's previous books and was equally pleased with this one!”
“absolutely love the book it’s so fantastic true to character and brilliantly done love it so much.”
“Elizabeth being a sleepwalker is a clever plot device, making Darcy’s marriage to (a most unwilling) Elizabeth happen early on. I especially enjoyed the slow igniting of their relationship as well as the action-packed finale.”
“This book was funny and sweet, and it was very entertaining! Recommended.”
“If you like to know how Darcy and Elizabeth come to know and love each other when they are forced to marry due to a situation caused by Elizabeth's sleep walking, you should definitely read this story. I highly recommend it.”
“Took me a whole day to read, couldn’t put it down.”
“If you are a P&P fan, this is a unique variation that may be hard to put down till the very end!”
“Amanda Kai does not disappoint. This easy read has familiar characters, but some have unfamiliar characteristics. Readers who enjoy stories where Jane is ‘bad’ will like her storyline. Another good read for those who like P&P fan fiction.”

Already read it? I’d love it if you would take a moment to add your own review to help others find this book. :-)
I am listening to Beautiful Impressions right now. The music is very soothing and you play it so beautifully. Thank you!
Mostly, I've been ripping my CDs to mp3 for convenience, but I still keep most of the CDs around and could imagine playing them from time to time. I'm in the (slow) process of digitizing my cassettes.
